Today, Friday, November 21, 2025, the Standing Committee of the Holy Synod convened under the leadership of H.H. Pope Tawadros II, in the presence of H.G. Bishop Boulos, Bishop of Ottawa, Montreal, and Eastern Canada.

After discussing with His Grace certain pastoral matters in the diocese, it became clear that there was a misunderstanding on his part concerning the matter of appointing young women as deaconesses. Therefore, the matter is to be considered as though it never happened.

Moreover, H.G. Bishop Boulos requested from His Holiness to take a period of retreat and quietness in the Monastery of Virgin Mary, El-Baramous, during the Nativity Fast, which begins in a few days until the start of the new year, and Pope Tawadros approved the request.

We ask our gracious Lord to preserve the peace of the Church at all times.
