Today (Wednesday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Residence in Saint Bishoy’s Monastery, Wadi El-Natroun, a group from the congregation of the Church of Saint Wanas in Sydney, accompanied by the church’s priest; Hegumen Sourial Hanna. The visit took place during their service trip to Egypt, organized by the Papal Office for Service Weeks (High Office).

The Papal Office for Service Weeks is one of the pastoral initiatives aimed at building strong channels of communication with the second- and third-generation youth of the Coptic Church in the diaspora, by providing opportunities to visit Egypt and participate in service and spiritual activities that help strengthen their connection to their ecclesiastical and national roots.

During the meeting, Pope Tawadros expressed his joy at this visit, particularly as the group includes children and grandchildren who are visiting Egypt for the first time. His Holiness commended the families for their commitment to bringing their children and grandchildren to their homeland, and wished them—both young and old—a fruitful service experience and an enjoyable visit.
