His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received, on Monday, at the Papal Residence in Cairo, His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif; His Eminence Dr. NaziNazir Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt; His Eminence Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Awqaf; along with leaders of Al-Azhar, Dar Al-Iftaa, the Ministry of Awqafd the Egyptian Family House, who came to extend greetings on the occasion of the Glorious Feast of the Nativity.
His Holiness delivered a welcoming address to his guests, expressing his joy at their visit and greetings, and commending such meetings that bring us together on the blessed land of Egypt. He said:
“We pray for all suffering peoples, and for our country, that God may preserve for it the blessing of peace, stability, and security.”
For his part, His Eminence the Grand Imam extended his greetings, noting that Egyptians have become accustomed to affirming the sense of brotherhood within the nation and striving to uphold the values of citizenship, emphasizing that in Egypt there is no place for the term ‘minorities.’
On behalf of all those present, the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II for his efforts in promoting peace within society, affirming that peace naturally belongs in places of worship, as religions are the true foundation for peace.
