H.H. Pope Tawadros II: “Fasting is a period for worship, prayer, drawing closer to God, sensing the needs of others, and reforming oneself.”
H.H. Pope Tawadros II extended his greetings for the commencement of the Great Lent, expressing his hope that its days may be a source of blessing and spiritual fruits. His Holiness also extended greetings to Muslims in Egypt and around the world on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
These remarks were delivered during his sermon at the weekly Wednesday meeting held this evening, which he addressed from the Papal Residence in Cairo.
His Holiness stated: “I seize this opportunity to extend greetings to our Muslim brethren on the beginning of the month of fasting, the month of Ramadan. Among the blessings of divine providence is that all Egyptians are fasting together, as we have begun our fasts in the same week. Fasting is a period for worship, prayer, drawing closer to God, sensing the needs of others, and reforming oneself.”
He added: “We extend our greetings to all our Muslim brethren in Egypt, in the Arab and Islamic countries, and throughout the world. We also extend greetings to all officials in Egypt, foremost among them His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, as well as all officials at every level of responsibility. May God grant that these days be filled with blessing and abundant grace for our country and for the life of every family in Egypt.”
