Today (Saturday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Residence in Cairo, His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania, accompanied by Ambassador Olivia Toderean.
His Royal Highness expressed his pleasure at visiting Egypt and meeting His Holiness, praising the deep spiritual ties between the Coptic Orthodox Church and the Romanian Orthodox Church. He affirmed his pride in this fraternal closeness between the two Churches.
For his part, His Holiness the Pope provided His Royal Highness with an overview of Egypt’s rich history and its great civilizations. He also reviewed the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church and its spiritual and national role throughout the ages.
The meeting concluded with an affirmation that the world today is in urgent need of love and tolerance, and that a call to live with humanity and goodwill among all people is the path toward peace. His Royal Highness commended this vision, expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting and promoting the values of peace.
