His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, accompanied by his delegation, visited today His Excellency Archbishop Dražen Kutleša, Archbishop of Zagreb of the Catholic Church, at the Archbishop’s official residence.
The visit comes within the framework of His Holiness’ current pastoral visit to Croatia, which began last Saturday.
The Archbishop expressed his happiness at the Pope’s visit to Croatia, praising His Holiness’ care for his spiritual children and noting the growing Coptic community in Croatia.
He also presented an overview of the Catholic Church’s structure in Croatia, noting that 22 bishops serve under his leadership across 15 dioceses, in addition to discussing the monastic systems followed in Croatian monasteries.
His Holiness thanked the Archbishop and spoke about the organizational structure of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the division of its dioceses, and the number of churches inside and outside Egypt.
He also addressed the Coptic monastic tradition, emphasizing that monasticism originated in Egypt before spreading throughout the world.
Following the meeting, His Holiness and the accompanying delegation visited the cathedral attached to the Archbishop’s headquarters, where the Pope expressed his admiration for its architectural style.
