Today, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II inaugurated the Manuscripts Papal Center at the LOGOS Center of the Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi El Natrun, on the sidelines of the General Session of the Holy Synod, which was held today at the LOGOS Center.
The inauguration was attended by the members of the Holy Synod, who listened to a presentation on the center’s contents and capabilities delivered by Monk Fr. Wissa St. Bishoy, the monk overseeing the center.
The center was designed according to the standards of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and includes three sections:
- Manuscript Preservation Department
- Manuscript Restoration Department
- Manuscript Digitization Department
The center houses 2,300 manuscripts in addition to 6,000 digital manuscripts.
