His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received today, Sunday, at the Papal Residence in Cairo, a group of servants from the churches of Nashville, Tennessee, USA, accompanied by Fr. Nofir Elias, priest of Archangel Michael Church in Lavergne. The group came to Egypt to provide a variety of ministry services in churches in Alexandria, Beni Suef, and Minya, in addition to visiting historic churches and monasteries throughout the country.
The team’s ministries included serving the sick, the elderly, and individuals with special needs.
During the meeting, the members of the group shared with His Holiness how deeply they had been moved by their experience. They spoke about the valuable lessons they learned through their interaction with those they served, witnessing God’s evident work in their lives despite the hardships they endure.
The Nashville churches’ service mission was coordinated through the HIGH Office, which is responsible for facilitating ministry partnerships between the dioceses of the diaspora and areas of need in Egypt. The office was established by a decision of the Holy Synod in March 2024. The name HIGH is an acronym for: Hands in God’s Hand.
