Today (Tuesday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II met at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo with H.E. Metropolitan Youssef, Metropolitan of the Southern United States, accompanied by members of the HOPE Group; a team of Copts residing in the United States who serve in the fields of medical, educational, and community development work. The group operates under the supervision of H.E. Metropolitan Youssef and is currently visiting Egypt to provide a number of these services.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Metropolitan Youssef expressed his gratitude to His Holiness for taking the time to meet with the group. Pope Tawadros then delivered a relevant talk, answered their questions, and presented them with commemorative gifts.
It is worth noting that service visits by groups from Coptic Orthodox churches abroad are coordinated through the HIGH Office, which is responsible for facilitating cooperation between Coptic Orthodox dioceses overseas and the areas of greatest need within dioceses in Egypt. The office was established by a decision of the Holy Synod during its session in March 2024. The name HIGH is an acronym for its motto: “Hands in God’s Hand.”
