Today (Tuesday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo, Mr. Aidan O’Hara, Ambassador of Ireland to Egypt.

During the meeting, His Holiness provided an overview of Egypt’s ancient civilization and the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church. The discussion also addressed the pioneering role of Sunday School and its importance in instilling Christian values and strengthening children’s connection to the Church from an early age.

The meeting further touched upon Egypt’s experience of peaceful coexistence. In this context, the Irish Ambassador expressed his joy at attending the Feast of Nativity Liturgy this year at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ.

His Holiness also commended President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s commitment to visiting the Cathedral annually to extend Christmas greetings to the Coptic community. He noted that this visit conveys a message of love, reinforces the principle of citizenship, and embodies the spirit of national unity. Pope Tawadros further emphasized that this tradition represents a unique precedent in the history of Egypt’s presidents.
