Today (Sunday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II received, at the Papal Residence in Cairo, a delegation from the administration, faculty members, and students of the Armenian Theological Institute and the St. James Seminary, affiliated with the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem. The delegation was headed by Archimandrite Kevork Hairabedian, Dean of the Institute, and was accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Ashot Mnatsakanyan, Armenian Orthodox Metropolitan of Egypt and Africa. The visit took place as part of the delegation’s tour of several historic Coptic monasteries in Egypt.

The members of the delegation conveyed to His Holiness the greetings and affection of His Beatitude Patriarch Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, Armenian Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem.

For his part, Pope Tawadros spoke about Egypt and its distinguished historical and geographical significance, as well as the rich heritage of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He also reflected on the ministry of Saint Mark the Apostle, founder of the See of Alexandria, and on Coptic monasticism and its profound influence on monastic traditions throughout the world.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness asked the delegation to convey his love and appreciation to His Beatitude Patriarch Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, Patriarch of Jerusalem, and presented the visitors with commemorative gifts.
