Today (Monday), H.H. Pope Tawadros II met with the legal representatives and principals of the Coptic Orthodox schools at the St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Academy, located at the LOGOS Centre, Saint Bishoy’s Monastery, Wadi El Natroun. The gathering, held for the first time, spans two days at the LOGOS Centre and was attended by H.G. Bishop Raphael, General Bishop of the Churches of Central Cairo and Vice Chairman of the Board of the General Secretariat of Coptic Orthodox Schools. Representatives of 35 schools affiliated with various dioceses of the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Egypt also participated.
The meeting commenced with an address by H.G. Bishop Raphael, who presented the vision and strategic direction of the General Secretariat, aimed at unifying the schools’ identity and vision in a manner that strengthens the mission of the Coptic Orthodox schools and advances their educational and formative role. A documentary was also presented, highlighting the Secretariat’s most significant activities and achievements since its establishment in November of last year.
In his address, His Holiness reflected on the closing verse of the Book of Acts, which describes the ministry of Saint Paul in Rome: “preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him” (Acts 28:31).
Pope Tawadros emphasised that our calling as leaders and educators is to be ambassadors for Christ, proclaiming Him through our lives before our words. In this way, we become the light of the world through integrity, the salt of the earth preserving values, leaven bringing blessing wherever we serve, and the fragrance of Christ bearing witness to Him in our schools and throughout society.
His Holiness also commended the accomplishments achieved thus far by the General Secretariat of Coptic Orthodox Schools.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Office of the General Secretariat presented His Holiness with a commemorative gift: an artistic plaque featuring a map of the Arab Republic of Egypt indicating all the schools affiliated with the General Secretariat, symbolising the unity of their mission and its presence across the nation.
