Today, H.H. Pope Tawadros II attended the graduation ceremony of the 2026 Preparatory Certificate class at St. Mark’s School in Alexandria. The celebration was held at the theatre adjoining the Papal Residence within St. Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria.
The ceremony was attended by Their Graces Bishop Raphael (General Bishop of the Central Cairo Churches Sector and Vice Chairman of the Board of the General Secretariat of the Coptic Schools), Bishop Pavly (General Bishop of the Montaza Churches Sector) and Bishop Hermina (General Bishop of the East Alexandria Churches Sector). Also in attendance was Hegumen Abraam Emil (General Deputy of the Patriarchate in Alexandria), members of the school’s Board of Directors, faculty members, and the graduates’ parents.
The programme featured a variety of theatrical performances, patriotic hymns, and artistic presentations by the school’s students and choir. It also included several video presentations highlighting the students’ experiences throughout their years of study and expressing their deep sense of belonging and attachment to their school. The celebration further included a number of addresses, among them a speech by Mr. Magdy Fol, Principal of the school and Secretary General of the Coptic Schools, who underscored the importance of fostering a culture of quality in the minds of both students and all members of the school’s staff.
Hegumen Abraam Emil also addressed the gathering, expressing his appreciation for His Holiness’ evident role in advancing education, enhancing the standards of the school’s staff, and supporting the aspirations of the school’s administration for the next stage of its development.
The ceremony concluded with an address by Pope Tawadros, who expressed his gratitude to those in attendance, the parents, and the school’s administration, while commending the presentations offered during the celebration. His Holiness described the school as “my larger family and my smaller homeland.”
Pope Tawadros also emphasised the value of time, noting that it is irreplaceable. He summarised its importance through its letters:

-E = Endless Effort
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Holiness honoured the graduates of the St. Mark’s School Preparatory Certificate Class of 2026.
