H.H. Pope Tawadros II received Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, at the Papal Residence of the Church of Virgin Mary and St. Marina in New Alamein City.
His Holiness praised the remarkable developmental achievements accomplished in New Alamein City, affirming that the city’s progress reflects the tremendous efforts being made to build a better future for coming generations. He also expressed his wishes for Egypt and its people to continue enjoying progress and prosperity.
Pope Tawadros noted that the Church organizes visits for Egyptian youth living abroad to various locations across Egypt under the initiative “Back to Roots,” including a visit to New Alamein City. He pointed out that the young participants expressed great admiration and amazement at the scale of the achievements and modern developments they witnessed, which rival those found in many advanced countries. This, he said, reflects the significant progress Egypt is making in the field of urban development.
For her part, Minister of Housing Eng. Randa El-Menshawy expressed her pleasure at meeting His Holiness and her deep appreciation for the national role of the Egyptian Church in promoting the values of citizenship and strengthening social cohesion. She affirmed that New Alamein City has become a comprehensive model of a sustainable smart city, accommodating a wide range of residential, tourism, service, cultural, and religious activities, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision of building integrated urban communities.
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy further affirmed that New Alamein City is witnessing steadily increasing demand as it is designed to be a city suitable for year-round living. She noted that it offers a full range of services, including universities, schools, an industrial zone, and other essential facilities that meet the needs of citizens. She added that the Ministry continues to implement various development and service projects to meet the needs of both residents and visitors, while supporting the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable urban development along Egypt’s northwestern coast.
