This (Wednesday) afternoon, H.H. Pope Tawadros II met at the Papal Residence in Alexandria with the widows of the departed priests who served in the churches of Alexandria. The meeting was attended by Their Graces Bishop Pavly (General Bishop of the Churches of the Montazah Sector) and Bishop Hermina, (General Bishop of the Churches of Eastern Alexandria). Also in attendance was Hegumen Abraam Emil (General Deputy of the Patriarchate in Alexandria).

His Holiness expressed his joy at this gathering and offered his appreciation to the wives who had dedicated and consecrated their lives to serving alongside their husbands. His Holiness noted that there are sources of consolation that can sustain and strengthen them, including the Divine Liturgies, readings, and prayers, as well as the petitions and prayers offered by their departed husbands.

His Holiness listened to the life experiences shared by some of the wives concerning their lives with their husbands, both before and after their husbands’ departure to heaven.

The attendees expressed their happiness at meeting with Pope Tawadros and conveyed their gratitude for his care for them.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness shared an Aghapy meal with them, presented them with gifts to commemorate the occasion, and took commemorative photographs with them.
