Man was born desiring knowledge, in all its forms. This knowledge can either lead him to a joyful life or a miserable life. King Solomon the wise said: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
This knowledge makes us more wise and understanding. We are able to live with awareness to everything around us. We are also able to live a reality to what is above time, for the knowledge of our Lord Christ’s greatness raises us above the heights of life.
This is how Tyrannus Seminary was established; as a minor attempt to enlighten the minds which are thirsty for genuine spiritual knowledge.
We considered ourselves responsible for feeding our students with the words of eternal life which we cannot live without. Many fountains were flowing to us of the sayings and lives of the great fathers who enriched the Church with their contributions and pure biographies.
Every student found what answered his question and explained these treasures, through the best teachers, who loved Christ our God and the Church. They wearied in gaining knowledge and virtues, therefore we are able to sing this psalm: “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad.” (Psalm 126:3)
Finally, this work is only for the glory of Christ our God and the raising of the students’ minds, to what is worthy of serving the Master, who washed our feet.
All thanks to our good Lord, who has taught us, is teaching us and will teach us. And also a special thanks to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II who shepherds the seminary and cares for it, as the head of the religious and education institutes in the See of Saint Mark.
