St. Mark Coptic Academy is one of the educational and academic institutions of the Coptic Orthodox Church. It aims to support and develop the system of ecclesiastical and theological education and to advance academic standards and quality within church educational institutions.

St. Mark Coptic Academy is located at the LOGOS Center of the Monastery of St. Bishoy in Wadi El-Natroun, in an environment that brings together academic study, spiritual life, and the rich Coptic monastic heritage.

The Academy was established as part of the Coptic Orthodox Church’s commitment to developing education, supporting seminaries, theological colleges, and ecclesiastical institutes, and encouraging scientific research and specialized studies.

The Academy is committed to strengthening cooperation and communication among various ecclesiastical educational institutions and to facilitating the exchange of expertise and ideas that contribute to the development of curricula and academic programs and to the advancement of the educational process.

The Academy also works to support academic quality standards within theological colleges and ecclesiastical institutes recognized by the Coptic Orthodox Church.

In this context, a series of meetings have been held at the Academy with representatives of theological colleges and ecclesiastical institutes, in the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, to discuss ways of developing ecclesiastical education and to hear different academic experiences and proposals.

The role of the Academy extends beyond education and academic development to supporting scientific research and specialized studies in areas such as Church history, theology, Coptology, evangelism, and other fields related to the service of the Church.

This milestone reflects the Church’s commitment to encouraging academic research and providing researchers with opportunities to pursue specialized studies that contribute to ecclesiastical knowledge, Coptic history, pastoral ministry, and missionary work.

The Academy also serves as a platform for cooperation between academic and ecclesiastical expertise, helping to build a more integrated educational system that combines Orthodox authenticity with contemporary academic standards.

The Academy seeks to become a center of excellence in ecclesiastical education and research, contributing to the formation of generations of students, researchers, and servants who are equipped to serve the Church and society through an integrated academic and spiritual approach.

The Academy bears the name of St. Mark the Apostle, the evangelist of Egypt and founder of the Coptic Church, whose name has been associated since the early centuries of Christianity with education, evangelism, and the establishment of the Theological School of Alexandria.

Through this mission, St. Mark Coptic Academy continues the Church’s longstanding commitment to education, research, and scholarship, offering ecclesiastical knowledge in a way that brings together the depth of faith, fidelity to tradition, and excellence in academic research.
