“Humans are carried in their mothers’ wombs to be shaped. When their shaping is complete, they are born through contractions. One wonders at the saying of Paul the Apostle: “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you” (Galatians 4:19). This laboring is the pains which occur until we are born in Christ. He labors for them a second time because of their fall in sin, for he sees that they have become distorted.” (Saint Augustine)

“A servant is a person whom Christ washed the filthy feet of and washes them every day. Because of this, he follows Christ with all his heart to wash the filth of others, knowing in his heart that Christ is continuing to wash his feet. He does not judge anyone, nor feels that he has done anyone a favour, but he is in debt to Christ.” (Hegumen Bishoy Kamel)
