The monastery is located at 31 K Cairo-Suez Road on an area of about 10 feddans (10.38 acres). It was established in 1992 AD and it includes churches and a cathedral that is under construction. Daily liturgical prayers such as the liturgy, the raising of incense of Matins and Vespers, Vespers prayers, and praises, are held for the consecrated women and nuns that reside there (~75).
The monastery offers various social services, including a center for the mentally ill and a senior home, as well caring for those of low-income and poor, a retreat house for girls. It also offers educational and cultural services, including the American School and a Coptic media center for Aghapy TV, recording studios, a publishing house, and a printing press for religious books, the Bustan Al-Zohor children’ monthly magazine, and the annual Patmos calendar. In addition, there are medical services that include the Oum Al-Nour Hospital and the Higher Institute of Nursing (under construction), and services for jobless youth in engineering and construction offices, and workshops to teach carpentry, blacksmithing, marble and tiles.
