Over the last period, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II talked during the weekly sermon about the importance of protecting our environment by rationalizing consumption. In addition to holding several seminars for awareness in Churches.
In last December, His Holiness launched the Coptic Orthodox Church’s initiative “Plant a Tree”, through which His Holiness encouraged Diocese and Churches to plant trees, with each church planting at least one hundred trees, in support of Egypt in organizing the next conference of the United Nations, COP27 for the climate.
Today, under the guidance of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, The Papal Office of Projects and Relations has decorated the walls of St. Mark’s Cathedral, Abbasia with awareness messages for the Egyptians in order to protect the environment and manage consumption, coinciding with Egypt hosting of the climate conference, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh within days.
Awareness messages included
1. “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it”. (Genesis 2:15)
2. Blessed is he who plants a tree
3. Reducing consumptions = cleaner environment
4. Land is our precious mother… protect it
