With the world celebrating on November 25 the International Day to End Violence against Women, the “16 Days to Combat Gender-Based Violence” campaign was an opportunity through which the Papal Office for Projects, in cooperation with the National Council for Women, held an awareness session in December 2021 to remind women of the declaration issued by the Church at the beginning of the year. 2021, through which the Coptic Orthodox Church supports women’s right to a life free from all forms of violence, which stems from the belief that all human beings are God’s creation and that they are all equal in dignity. Christianity stands against all forms of violence against women, whether physical, verbal or psychological.
On this day, Saint Mark’s Cathedral in St. Royce was lit up in orange in line with the United Nations’ 18-day campaign to end violence against women.
