– Diocletian became emperor in 284 AD and he appointed Maximian Caesar for the West, and Galerius Caesar for the East (Syria and Egypt)
– In 303 AD, Diocletian decreed to imprison the churches’ heads and destroying them; this became the Tenth Persecution and the most severe of all of them
– Arius’ heresy came to light and he was excommunicated for it
