Today H.H. Pope Tawadros II consecrated four altars in the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostles, in Nubaria City of the diocese of Beheira, Matrouh, and the Five Western Cities, as well as the Sanctuary of the Bosom of the Father, Iconostasis, the church’s icons, and baptistry, on the occasion of the Feast of the Martyrdom of the Apostles Peter and Paul which the Coptic Church celebrates today.
Along with H.E. Metropolitan Bakhmoios of the diocese, eight bishops participated in the consecration: H.G. Bishop Daniel, Bishop of Maadi and General Secretary of the Holy Synod; H.G. Bishop Theodosios, Bishop of Central Giza; H.G. Bishop Domadios, Bishop of 6th of October City; H.G. Bishop Ishaq, General Bishop and the Spiritual Administrator of the Monastery of St. Macarius of Alexandria in Qalali Mountain; H.G. Bishop Bavly, General Bishop of the churches in el-Montazah District; H.G. Bishop Hermina, General Bishop of the churches in Eastern Alexandria; H.G. Bishop Saweros, Bishop and Abbot of the Monastery of Thomas in Khatatbah and Sohag and the Monastery of St. Victor the Martyr in Khatatbah; and H.G. Bishop Theophilus, Bishop of Manfalut.
The Four Altars Consecrated Today
– Altar under the name of St. George the Roman Martyr in the church bearing his name on the first floor, as well as its baptistry.
– Three altars in the church of Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostles on the second floor:
· The main altar under the names of Sts. Peter and Paul the Apostles.
· The northern altar under the name of St. Mark the Apostle.
· The southern altar under the name of St. John the Beloved.
The Church of the “Apostles” is a new church licensed to be built since 2013. The construction and final finishes were completed this month before its consecration today by H.H. the Pope and the bishops of the Church.
