In a statement to by H.H. Pope Tawadros II to the Coptic Orthodox Church’s Official Website, after President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi’s hosting of the leaders of the Churches participating in the “General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches” currently being held in Egypt, he said:
“It was a visit filled with His Excellency President Abdel Fatal El Sisi’s kindness and humanitarian spirit. His Excellency explained his national vision of developing man, which will take years and years. The President emphasized that this vision is shared by all the religious, cultural and media institutions.
The visit was joyful in all its discussions between His Excellency and all the leaders of the Churches of the Middle East. The visit ended with affirmations from His Excellency about patience, not fearing, and having hope in the bright future, not only in Egypt, but all the nations of the Middle East.”
This was following the President’s meeting with the patriarchs, leaders and delegates of the Churches of the Middle East who are participating in the 12th General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, currently being held in Logos Papal Center in the Papal Residence, Saint Bishoy’s Monastery, Wadi El-Natroun, under the title: “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid.”
