I saw her standing at the crossroads…heard her calling out loud.
I saw her gathering the people who were passing by to walk with her in her path and with her style.
She stopped me while I was passing by, and my heart wasn’t happy by seeing her as she was delaying me from walking in my path.
She asked: “Who are you? Where are you from? Where are you going?”
I whispered in my heart: “Why should I answer her questions?! I won’t answer her…who is she?! What is her authority?!” …There was a voice whispering inside me saying: “Listen to her…answer her…know her and get close to her.”
I told her: “You are asking me who am I?!… I’m a passenger like anyone else on earth…You’re asking me where I came from and where I am going?!… I came from my home and I don’t know where I’m heading to…”
I don’t know why I hesitated to ask her the same questions she asked me…but I pulled myself together and asked her: Would you excuse me, I want to know who are you? And where are you from?…
She answered: God speaks through the law, prophets, and apostles, and I’m a speaking book from God…I’m the Ecclesiastes, the open scripture to every passing by…God talked in me so that I can talk to you…He wanted me to be in your minds, to write me in your hearts, so at the end He would be your God and you would be His faithful people…
With her simple words, I felt that I have just woken up from a sleep that lasted for years… I felt bitterness and was heartbroken that the days have gone uselessly.
Maybe she felt the regret I was suffering, so she yearned for me with indescribable kindness and told me that the Lord, God, has put her on my way so that she could help the weakness of my nature as she does with every passing by.
I told her: How are you so kind to me although all my paths deserve punishment?!
I wondered when she answered: You don’t listen to whoever calls you…and you don’t call whoever listens to you, you don’t know who you are?!… You are the image and likeness of God… You are engraved on His palm… You are His sweet scent…You are his message…You are his heavenly ambassador on earth…You came from ashes…and would return back to it…and if all your paths deserve punishment, you must know that your Creator is the only one who converted your punishment into salvation. The day you were saved you from drowning, from the path you were walking willingly in…your Creator is the one who saved you. He created you with His word, and saved you with His word…Jesus is God’s word that saved you…come closer to me to see Him in me…there is no one else but Him that would show you the Father’s heavenly light and would bless you to know the true holy spirit.
I told her: how could I speak while I’m tied up with chains?… How could I get free from the troubles that dwell deep down in me?… How to get rid of these silk threads that I neglected till they turned into iron chains? How?!
She said: Son, if you want to be free from all these troubles, listen to God’s voice…you don’t want to listen…even if you wanted to know it yourself.
Tell me: What are you suffering from… I will tell you the cause of your pain is that you don’t listen to the voice of your Creator.
I told her: I’m sick of being possessive and whatever my eyes crave, I do not hold back from them.
She answered: If you have listened to me, you would have got rid of your sickness…I call with a loud voice to all the people before they get sick… “The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:8). I call for every passer-by: who loves silver, would never get enough of it, and who loves money will never have enough.
I opened up my heart to her and said: I’m confused…even though I have two opening eyes, I always collide with something and fall down…and the one I wait for and wish to help me to get up, I see him falling on me.
She answered me: I’m telling you again, you didn’t hear the voice of God that said: “Don’t be wise in your eyes”. So how do you go along with the ignorant and want to be wise?!…Wisdom comes to you when you walk with the wise…I told you that wisdom is more useful than ignorance; as the light is more useful than the dark…whoever goes along with the ignorant and walks in the dark, will fall even if both his eyes were open.
She saw me anxious, troubled, and disturbed by those who are around me… so she revealed my depths to me.
She told me: “You didn’t please God in your path…and didn’t hear his voice that I’m calling you by, because: “when a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him”.
I told her: I’ve lost my beloved ones and those who are around me because of my quick anger…what should I do?
Son, listen to what your Creator tells you and do it… the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools. and don’t rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter anything before God , if you did not listen to the commandment and went too far in the path that you are walking in, and let anger settle deep down in yourself…and opened up a prostitute house in your heart…and neglected what spoils your body and consumes it …if you didn’t keep your clothes white, you must know that you would die before your timing…cause this is God’s voice saying: “Don’t be too wicked, neither be foolish. Why shall you die before your time?”
I was encouraged by my words and became eager to stand up and run very far away, escaping from the death that lives in me…
She felt me, and held me with her hands…and told me: “Look…Who are they?”
I told her: They are the superiors…as I knew them from their gowns and crowns…then she said: Who are they?
I told her: They are slaves…as I also knew them from their gowns…
Then she told me: Is not this weird?… I told her: you’re right… How come the slaves are riding horses while their superiors are walking like slaves?!
She answered: By wisdom the slave sites down, and by ignorance the superior walks
I told her:” You are God’s voice…surround me with wisdom…give me your hand and pull me out from this hole that I fell into…save me from the snake that bit me… Lift me up from the stones that fell on me… Save me from danger.
Believe me, son, if you had heard his voice and memorized his words and didn’t harden your heart, you would have been saved from all this… He calls out before you were born warning everyone: “He that digs a pit shall fall into it, and who breaks an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. Who removes stones shall be hurt herewith, and he that cleaves wood shall be endangered thereby”.
