H.H. Pope Tawadros II sent a congratulatory telegram extending his cordial wishes to His Eminence Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr saying:

Your Eminence Dr. Shawki Allam the Grand Mufti of Egypt,

On behalf of myself and the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church, it pleases me to extend to your Eminence and all our Egyptian brethren our wishes on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, asking God to grant you success in your sincere efforts towards the advancement of our nation and in spreading an awareness and a culture of peace, and coexistence throughout the nation in fight against the enemies of humanity of the forces of evil, intolerance and terrorism.
