His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received a media delegation from six African countries at the Papal residence in Cairo on Thursday, as part of their current visit to Egypt at the invitation of the Ministry of State for Information.
The delegation included media professionals from Liberia, Tanzania, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Kenya.
His Holiness the Pope welcomed them and told them about the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church, noting that the most important features of the Church are theological education, martyrdom and monasticism.
His Holiness also alluded to the service of the Coptic Church extending throughout the world, especially in Africa, and referred to the hospital established by the Coptic Church in Kenya, which is the largest hospital there, as well as an industrial school established in Burundi, in addition to the many services it provides in several African countries.
In conclusion, His Holiness presented the delegation with a souvenir, a book on the path of the Holy Family and a Coptic icon for the visit of the Holy Family to Egypt.
