His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received this morning at the papal residence in Cairo, Deputy Amelia Lakrave, Vice President of the Parliamentary Group concerned with studying the conditions of Eastern Christians in the French parliament.
During the meeting, His Holiness indicated that it is necessary, in order to understand the situation of Christians in Egypt, to study the history of Egypt since the Pharaonic, Christian and then Islamic eras, and that over the years all Egyptians lived together around the Nile River, and that is why the unity of the Egyptians is strong. His Holiness added that Egypt is different from any Other country because of the Nile, through which we live the natural national unity.
His Holiness also referred to the programs and training that the Egyptian family households among imams and priests, which Lakrave praised as a model that it hopes will be applied in other countries.
His Holiness the Pope invited her to visit the complex of religions in ancient Egypt.
The meeting also included a dialogue on the relationship of the Coptic Orthodox Church with other churches, during which His Holiness referred to the good relationship and mutual dialogue, and that the Coptic Church is a member of the World Council of Churches, the Councils of the Churches of the Middle East and Egypt.
