Today, H.H. Pope Tawadros II prayed the last Friday prayers of Fast at St. Bishoy’s Monastery, Wadi El Natroun. The prayers began with the Qandil prayer (the sacrament of the anointing of the sick), followed by the prayers of the Divine Liturgy.
H.H. delivered a sermon, in which he indicated that (the last Friday of Fasting) ends the period of the forty-day fast in preparation for the beginning of a high spiritual period, which is the period of Holy Week, in which repentance, grace and holiness. Therefore, this day presents us with 3 messages:
1- A spiritual message through the sacrament of the anointing of the sick and the sweeps on the forehead (thought), on the throat (word), and on the hands (work), “only live according to what is worthy of the gospel of Christ” (Philippians 1:27).
2 – a personal message through the city of Jerusalem on behalf of the Man to provide repentance and start a new life, “O Jerusalem, O Jerusalem!… How often have I wanted to gather your children together, as hens gather, and their broods have shriveled!” (Matthew 23:37).
3- A warning message by explaining the result of the act of sin in Man, “Behold, your house is left to you desolate” (Matthew 23:38).
H.G. Bishop Aghabious, the head of the monastery, some priests participated in the prayers.
