Today at the Papal Residence in Cairo, H.H Pope Tawadros II received H.E. Metropolitan Leonid Gorbachev, Metropolitan of Africa of the Russian Orthodox Church, and Georgy Borisenko, the Russian Ambassador in Cairo.
H.G. Bishop Theodosius, Bishop of Mid Giza, and H.G. Bishop Elarion, Bishop of Red Sea, attended the meeting.
Metropolitan Leonid, currently on an official visit to Egypt to establish a Russian Church, delivered the greetings of His Beatitude Patriarch Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow to the Russian Orthodox Church, to H.H, and also gave His Holiness a letter of appointment by His Beatitude Patriarch Kirill.
The conversation was about the good relationship between the two churches in various fields, such as the exchange of monastic and clerical visits, and at the social work and theological dialogue levels through the common committee between the two churches.
H.H. welcomed the delegation and their new service in Egypt for Russian citizens, whether residing in Egypt or visiting it for tourism.
They exchanged gifts and took photos together.
