Today, His Holiness consecrates the icons in St. Virgin Mary’s and St. Athanasius’ Church, Madinet Nasr, in celebration of the Golden Jubilee, of laying its foundation stone in 1972.
The “Pantocrator Icon” and the Iconostasis and other icons were consecrated by the hand of His Holiness and a number of Bishops.

Upon the arrive of His Holiness, he unveiled the plaque which has the date of the consecrated on it. Then memorial photos were taken with the Bishops and the Priests before entering the church.
After the consecration prayers, His Holiness and the Bishops signed the Consecration Documents of the Church then the Holy Liturgy prayers began.
During the sermon of the the liturgy, his Holiness spoke about few points that can hinder us from listening to the voice of God, for example:
1- Excessive preoccupation with life matters to a stage where is distracts you from your relationship with God.
2- A heavy heart, which loses its sensitivity towards the voice of God
3- Self and pride, which makes a person only seeing and hearing themselves
4- Stubbornness, which makes a person sticking to only their own opinion
5- Fear, which prevents a person from obeying the voice God
