His Grace Bishop Dawoud, Bishop of Mansoura, rest in the Lord today, after a long struggle with illness.
“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” (2 Cor 5:1)
On the hope of the resurrection, H.H. Pope Tawadros II, and the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church bid farewell to H.G. Bishop Daoud, Bishop of the diocese of Mansoura and its affiliated regions, who departed in the Lord today at the age of 66. This is after a monastic life of more than 32 years, in which he cared for the diocese of Mansoura for 20 years.
H.G. Bishop Daoud had a simple heart and pure spirit. He was faithful in his monasticism and care for his people, so they loved him. This pure love was also experienced by all who knew him and dealt with him.
In his last years, H.G. endured the pains of illness with a spirit of contentment and thanksgiving, focusing on the eternal Kingdom which he desired to reach.
May God repose his righteous soul, and grant comfort to the priests, deacons, servants and blessed congregation of the diocese of Mansoura.
The funeral prayers for the late H.G. Bishop Dawoud (Bishop of Mansoura) will be held at 10AM tomorrow; Wednesday, in St. Mary and Archangel Michael’s Church in Mansoura (the diocese headquarters).
A liturgy was prayed this morning, in the presence of His Grace’s body, in St. Mary and Archangel Michael’s Church, Mansoura.
