This evening, at the new Administrative building, H.H. Pope Tawadros II met with H.G. Bishop Martyros, General Bishop of East Railways, and with some of the priests of the district and their families.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.G. Bishop Martyros gave a speech where H.G. congratulated H.H. for the 10th anniversary of the Enthronement of H.H. and for the inauguration of the new administrative building. H.G. also thanked H.H. for his continuous care and following up on the pastoral works in the district and then H.G. presented to H.H. a presentation about the services of the churches in the East Railways.
H.H. then gave a speech where he welcomed H.G., the priests and their families, referring to this meeting as the third meeting of the priests to be held at the new administrative building, as the first and second meetings were with the priests of Almaza District, Al Amal City, East of Nasr City, Ain Shams, Mataria and Helmeyat Al Zaytoun. H.H. then assured that the new Administrative building contains advanced equipment to accommodate the services provided by the Papal Residence.
H.H. then read a part of the Gospel of St Luke, chapter 2, that speaks about Simeon, “he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”” (Luke 2:28-32)
H.H. then reflected on five titles from the Gospel which are:
1- “he took Him up in his arms”
2- “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace”
3- “According to Your word”
4- “For my eyes have seen Your salvation”
5- “A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel”
H.H. also reflected on the definition of consecration which is:
1- A sign of love
2- A witness of love
3- A cross of love
H.H. also added on the definition of a man being a Christian:
1. To take our Lord Jesus Christ daily
2. To hate sin daily
3. To think and long for Eternity daily
At the end of the meeting, H.H. answered the questions of the attendees and gave them a memorial gift and then they all took a memorial picture with H.H.
