This morning, at the Papal Residence in Cairo, H.H. Pope Tawadros II received the Canadian Minister of Transport, Mr Omar Alghabra, who is currently visiting Egypt, as part of his tour to some Arab countries.
Several topics were discussed in the meeting, and H.H. referred to Egyptian history and the unity of Egyptians that they live with throughout the years around the Nile River.
His Holiness commended the good relationship between the Church, the State, Parliament and other Churches on the land of Egypt. Also, the friendly relationship between H.H. and the Sheikh of Al-Azhar.
H.H. invited the Minister to visit the Egyptian archaeological sites to learn more about the ancient Egyptian history and also to visit the national projects that have been done recently in Egypt. H.H. then mentioned the two issues Egypt faced, which are terrorism and economic collapse and it was able to develop poorer communities and to meet their basic needs and improve their basic needs and improve the level of education. It was also able to eliminate terrorism.
H.H. also wished the Minister a great stay in Egypt.
The Minister also commended the role of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the Canadian community and their interest in education there, indicating that he has a distinguished relationship with the Coptic Church in Canada and that he is keen to communicate on regular basis with its officials, as well as congratulating them on various church occasions.
