The Oriental Orthodox Churches participated in the funeral of Pope Benedict XVI of the Catholic Church, that was held at the Vaticans. H.H. Pope Tawadros II have delegated H.G. Bishop Bernaba, Bishop of Turin & Rome, to attend the funeral on his behalf. H.G. Bishop Bernaba delivered His Holiness’s condolences after to Pope Francis I after the funeral prayers.
Pope Francis I expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the participation of the Coptic Orthodox Church and His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.
The funeral was also attended by Metropolitan Khajaj Barsamian from the Armenian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Narig Alimazian of the Armenian Orthodox Church of the Great House of Cilicia, Antelias, Lebanon, and Metropolitan Ibrahim Mar Estephanos of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Malankara, the Orthodox Indians.
