Today, at the Papal Residence in Cairo, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received, Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, Dean of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, accompanied by a delegation of faculty members and young researchers representing the various branches of the Academy.
The Dean of the Academy appreciated the support of His Holiness for the Academy and the scientific and educational role it plays, stressing his keenness and the members of the teaching staff to visit His Holiness on this day every year, which coincides with the third anniversary of His Holiness the Pope’s visit to the academy’s headquarters in Abu Qir, Alexandria, on February 22, 2020. The Dean of the Academy then discussed the vision of the Maritime Transport Academy to develop scientific research in Egypt, through the establishment of a number of faculties specialized in the latest sciences, the most prominent of which is the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, which was established in the academy’s branch in El Alamein. He also presented a number of projects in some fields that are based on young researchers working at the Academy.
His Holiness expressed his welcome to his guests, and his pride in their visit and its timing, which has become an annual anniversary , commending the advanced mechanisms of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in studying in its affiliated faculties, as well as its keenness to establish new specializations, according to the latest scientific standards.
At the end of the visit, the Dean of the Academy presented His Holiness with a shield on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its establishment, while His Holiness presented them with gifts and took memorial photos.
