His Holiness Pope Tawadros II delivered his weekly sermon at Wednesday’s meeting from the Church of the Virgin Mary and Saint Bishoy at the Papal Residence in the Abbaseya Cathedral. The sermon was broadcast on Christian channels and the C.O.C channel of the Church’s media center and on the Internet.
His Holiness continued the series of “Stations of the Journey of Great Lent and Connecting It to Family Life.” H.H. referred to the topic of next Sunday, which is “Sunday of the Paralyzed Man,” and the importance of dealing with the sick in the family, through:
– Spreading the spirit of hope and faith, and that God is a miracle worker.
– Do not use offensive words.
– Pray for the sick
– Respect the patient’s privacy.
– The need to teach children to visit the sick, especially those who have no one.
His Holiness explained that the state of illness requires two things from every person, which are:
1- Thanking God for the presence of hospitals, equipment, medicines, doctors and nurses in this time.
2- Always praying with faith, through the “Sacrament of Anointing of the sick”, Litany of the sick and psalms.
“The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.”(Psalms 41:3)
