His Holiness called to participate in the “Earth Hour” initiative issued by the United Nations. This came at the conclusion of His Holiness’ sermon at the weekly Wednesday meeting held this evening at the Church of the Virgin Mary and Saint Bishoy in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbaseya.

His Holiness said: “The United Nations is organizing a global initiative with the aim of saving the planet, called “Earth Hour”, where an hour is allocated annually on the last Saturday of March, during which those who will participate in the initiative will stop using electricity.
This hour corresponds to Egyptian time, from eight thirty until nine thirty in the evening of next Saturday.
I invite you all to participate in this initiative in order to save the planet, in which we turn off the lights and disconnect the electric current, and consider it an hour of calmness, meditation, prayer and rest.”
