His Holiness Pope Tawadros II prayed the Holy Liturgy today in the Church of the Transfiguration in the LOGOS Center in the Papal Residence in the Monastery of St. Anba Bishoy in Wadi El-Natroun, with the presence of the new priests who were ordained at the beginning of the Great Lent as they spend the forty-day period following their ordination in the monasteries of Wadi El-Natroun.
His Holiness had delivered a lecture yesterday evening to the 25 new priests, at the conclusion of the training course they received in “Ecclesiastical Management and Development”, which began at Logos Papal Centre last Wednesday.
In the lecture, His Holiness addressed the topic of “Service Obstacles in the Life of a Priest and How to Deal With Them,” as H.H. indicated the following:
1- Missing the purpose of consecration (be righteous)
2- The wars of the ego and the self (be humble)
3- Culture of the Occult (Be pure in your thoughts)
4- Little Foxes, including wars of body, mind and soul (be careful)
5- Absence of thought and teamwork (be interactive)
6- Poverty of creativity (be innovative)
His Holiness had a conversation with the fathers to learn about the extent to which they benefited from the training, and about their lives and their new church service.
The training process during the course was carried out by the teachers of the “Coptic Institute for Church Administration and Development” “COPTICAD”, led by Dr. Magdy Latif Al-Sindi, Dean of the Institute.
The training course included: concepts and practical methods in church management and institutional work in the church, pillars of wise management (good administration or governance in the church), principles of development from a Christian perspective, and the role of the priest in managing the church as an institutional work system.
This foundational training for priests in church management is the seventh training of its kind for new priests since it was established by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II in 2018. This training also comes in implementation of one of the recommendations of the eighth seminar of the Holy Synod, which was held in November 2021.
