His Holiness Pope Tawadros II arrived – by the grace of God – at the Papal Residence in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbaseya this evening, coming from his residence in King Mariout in Alexandria, after recovering from the seventh nerve inflammation that H.H. was exposed to about a month ago.
Metropolitans and bishops received His Holiness very warmly, as they were waiting for His Holiness in the outer courtyard of the Residence , and they headed together to the main reception hall at the Residence.
His Holiness spoke about the illness he went through, pointing out that it resulted from a great effort he made during his last pastoral trip, after which His Holiness returned to start directly the sessions of the Holy Synod, which included extensive meetings with members of the Synod to present and discuss many pastoral issues. H.H. pointed out the need to be careful of the sudden change in temperature resulting from being in air-conditioned places, followed by being in very hot places, which causes some damage, including inflammation of the seventh nerve.
His Holiness indicated that he was keen to strictly adhere to the treatment program, which contributed to his speedy recovery. Advising his recipients of the need to organize time and effort in a balanced manner to carry out pastoral work to the fullest, while avoiding exposure to health problems, and paying attention to periodic medical follow-up, because health is a grant that God has given us so that we can invest it properly.
For their part, the more than 78 fathers present expressed their congratulations to His Holiness on his return and recovery, wishing H.H. more health, and that God grant him strength and aid to lead the Church and take care of its children while he is in full health and full of wellness.
