His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and the delegation accompanying him attended this evening the festive mass held by the Hungarian Church in St. Stephen’s Basilica in memory of St. Stephen, the founder of the State of Hungary. It is the anniversary associated with the Hungarian National Day, in which annual celebrations are held, which are the largest ever in Hungary.
The Mass was presided over by Cardinal Peter Erdo, Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Hungary, with the participation of the Vatican Ambassador to Budapest, Monsignor Michael Wallace Banach, the bishops of the Hungarian Church and thousands of Hungarian people.
King Stephen I is considered the founder of the state of Hungary around the year 1000 AD, and he is called the saint of Hungary, and the king who made the revival of Hungary, and preserved the Christian faith, not only in Hungary but in all of Europe.
