His Holiness Pope Tawadros II received at the papal residence in Cairo, this afternoon, Tuesday, Dr. Alkhan Polokhov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Egypt.
This meeting comes with the aim of getting to know His Holiness, and he extended to His Holiness an invitation to visit Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the ambassador stressed the good relationship between Egypt and Azerbaijan, referring to the official visits that were exchanged between the two countries recently, the most notable of which was the visit of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Azerbaijan last June, the first Egyptian president to visit their country.
He also referred to the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, asking for His Holiness’s prayers for the peace of their country.
For his part, His Holiness expressed that he prays for the peace of their country and the peace of the entire world and presented him with a souvenir of a book on the history of the Coptic Church.
