Today, Saturday, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II ordained 16 nuns for four Coptic convents in Egypt and Australia.
The 16 new nuns include five from the Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Harat Zuwaila and Al-Nubaria, a nun from the Monastery of the Archangel Michael in Melbourne, Australia, five nuns from the Monastery of the Wise Virgins on the Ismailia Road, and five from the Monastery of the Martyr Saint George and Saint Severniki on the El Alamein Road.
Six of the church’s bishops , the heads of the nuns’ monasteries and some of the nuns of the four monasteries participated in the monastic prayers and the mass that followed.
The monasticism of the new nuns comes within the framework of the monastic reconstruction of these monasteries, as three of the four monasteries were recognized by the Holy Synod in its last meeting , which was held on June 2.
