His Holiness Pope Tawadros II expressed his pain for the victims, martyrs, injured and worn out people as a result of what is happening in the Holy Land, describing it as the land that gave birth to prophets, disciples and apostles.
This came during the speech of H.H. at the Bible Society of Egypt’s celebration of the 140th anniversary of its work in Egypt.
His Holiness said: “If we, my beloved brothers, are gathered here and rejoice in God’s work and His holy word, but our hearts are aching for the land that gave birth to the prophets, disciples, apostles, and those who wrote the books of the Holy Bible, and this holy land about which we hear the ongoing conflict and the pain of the victims, martyrs, injured and worn out people.”
We pray that God will give grace and wisdom so that the land that received His holy books and which He inspired by His Holy Spirit will be a place of peace, joy and tranquillity. We pray for our brothers who are suffering with every kind of pain, and we pray for God to preserve the minds in His peace, for those who turn to violence and war conflict are far from God, because God is the King of peace and we pray and say, “O King of peace, grant us Your peace, render unto us Your peace, and forgive us our sins.”
On Tuesday evening, St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbaseya hosted the celebration the Bible Society of Egypt, marking the 140th anniversary of its work in Egypt, in the presence of the heads of Christian denominations.
