H.H. Pope Tawadros II urged Egyptians to participate by voting in the 2024 presidential elections, which will be held early next week (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) within Egypt.
During his annual meeting with the social welfare priests of the dioceses of Upper Egypt, Pope Tawadros said that voting in the elections is a constitutional and legal right for every Egyptian citizen, adding: “We say, ‘I will not give up my right.’”
His Holiness appealed to all Egyptians and Copts, stressing that participation is what matters.
Pope Tawadros encouraged those present, including the priests and their children, to motivate and educate everyone around them. He emphasized that the opportunity to vote is good because it is available for three days.
He added: “We encourage all Egyptians to make the election image worthy of Egypt.”
His Holiness said: “We dedicate the prayers of the month of Kiahk to our country, the safety of our land, and the peace of the world.” He then stressed oncemore: “We must all work and participate in the elections… Do not neglect your rights and the rights of your country.”
In his Wednesday meeting last week, H.H. Pope Tawadros had encouraged Egyptians living abroad to vote in the 2024 presidential elections, which was made possible during the first three days of this month (December) in 121 countries. In his weekly meeting yesterday, he called on Egyptians at home to do the same.
