H.H. Pope Tawadros II cast his vote this morning (Sunday) in the presidential elections, in the committee of the Martyr Imtiaz Muhammad Kamel School, Al-Waili region, which is the committee in which his name is registered in the electoral rolls.
After His Holiness finished performing his election duty, he stressed in statements to a number of news agencies and media outlets that participation in any elections is an expression of citizenship. He continued: “Just as officials in every position work hard for the sake of the people, citizens must respond to this effort by participating positively in order to build the nation. Participation is an expression of loyalty as we participate together in one work.”
Pope Tawadros stressed the necessity for all citizens, without exception to participate in the electoral process and cast their votes as an inherent constitutional right, since the selection process is a freedom and a responsibility before history and before the entire world.
His Holiness called on all Egyptians, young and old, to be keen to participate.
Regarding the Church’s position, Pope Tawadros said: “The Church participates as part of the nation. It therefore must participate positively with the rest of the national entities.”
He concluded by praising the organizational process of voting in all its procedures within the committee.
