H.H. congratulated His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on winning in the presidential elections and obtaining the confidence of the Egyptian people, which was revealed by millions of citizens who gave their votes to his sovereignty.
His Holiness also congratulated the Egyptian people for their positive participation in the elections, which presented an honorable image of Egypt and its elected president to the world.
This came at the beginning of his sermon at the weekly Wednesday meeting of His Holiness, which was held this evening in the church of the St About Sefein and StDemiana in Shoubra.
His Holiness thanked God first for the success of the presidential elections and their beautiful outcome through the participation of the Egyptian people of all categories, whether youth, men, women, or people of determination, whether Muslims or Christians. His Holiness described the participation as broad and civilized.
Regarding the implications of the electoral scene, His Holiness said: “This distinctive scene expresses the extent of stability that Egypt enjoys, and this stability is a blessing that God has granted to Egypt, given the conflicts, wars and other troubles that are happening around us.”
H.H. added: “We thank God for electing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as President of the Republic for a new presidential term, and for his leadership of our country, so that he may continue to lead it, with balanced and wise leadership, and complete the achievements and projects he has achieved.”
His Holiness commended the president’s statement: “We are building a state,” explaining that the president seeks to build a strong and advanced state in every sense of the word. The President works even on his day off, inspects work sites and follows up on what has been achieved on the ground.
His Holiness concluded his congratulations by calling on the President by saying: “May God give him health, thought, and wisdom to lead the nation successfully.”
His Holiness also saluted the three candidates who ran in the elections with all patriotism, and achieved voting percentages – even if they were small – but they revealed the existence of democratic mechanisms that are being built gradually, in which we participate (as a people) and exercise citizenship rights, which is a good thing for the future.
His Holiness also commended President Sisi for obtaining a percentage approaching 90% of the total votes, describing this percentage as an honorable percentage for Egyptians, and an honorable percentage for Egypt before the world.
In conclusion, His Holiness noted that this electoral scene and its positive results place on all of us a great responsibility that forces us to join hands to build our nation.
