H.H. Pope Tawadros II received, at the papal headquarters in Cairo today (Thursday), General Mohamed Zaki (Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production). He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Osama Askar (Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces), commanders of the main branches, and a number of commanders of the armed forces, who offered congratulations to His Holiness on the occasion of the Glorious Feast of Nativity.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces expressed his sincere congratulations to Pope Tawadros, and that of his entourage on the start of the new year and Nativity Feast, noting that Egypt will remain safe and stable thanks to the cohesion of its people and all its institutions. This has protected Egypt in all the difficult circumstances it has gone through and will continue protecting it.
For his part, Pope Tawadros expressed his gratitude for this visit and their greetings, stressing his appreciation for the men of the armed forces. His Holiness added: “We are proud of the Egyptian military, which follows principles and values that for improve the life of any individual who follows them. We always look to our armed forces as a protective shield for the country in all circumstances.”
