This evening, the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital received His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, where His Excellency congratulated His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and the Egyptian Christian citizens on the Nativity of Jesus Christ, coinciding with the holding of the Christmas Mass in the same cathedral.
His Holiness and the bishops received His Excellency President El-Sisi at the main gate of the church where prayers are held, and the procession headed into the church, where the worshipers received him with a warm welcome, and His Excellency was keen to return their greetings as he walked in the corridor leading to the “choir” area at the front of the church, amid a full atmosphere, with friendliness, love and appreciation for the gesture that the President used to present at Christmas every year.
In his speech, the President offered congratulations to those present and to all Egyptians on the occasion of Christmas and said, “Happy New Year, may you have health and safety. Happy New Year to everyone. Happy New Year to all Egyptians and a Happy Feast. We hope and pray to God Almighty that this year will be the end of difficult periods. Since 2020, the world has been is going through difficult circumstances, even within the region in which we live.”
He added: “God willing, this year will be a happy year for everyone, in which, thanks to God, we will overcome the existing crises, and we hope to God that they will not increase more than that. He stressed that the biggest crises that we are currently experiencing is what is happening in the Gaza Strip, but Egypt has a respectful position, God willing.” We seek a ceasefire and the entry of aid to our people in Gaza, and after that we will search for a solution to the issue that is renewed every year.”
The President indicated that he has all the love and respect for His Holiness Pope Tawadros and that this love stems from situations that can only be made by sincere men who love their country and are keen on it, pointing out that he touched on these words in a practical way with His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, and he thanked His Holiness for what has past and what is to come.
The President concluded: “Any crisis, problem or difficult circumstance, thanks to God Almighty, as long as we are together, things will pass and the difficult circumstances will be overcome. The important thing is that our country and our people be fine. Happy New Year.”
