My Lord, You, as a good shepherd who yearns and seeks to call for the lost ones, chose Jonah to be a priest to work with you…work in your field…
You wanted him to be a horn who calls for all stray, lost, cut-off, and helpless sheep.
You asked Jonah to go to Nineveh, touches her head, warns her…and awakens her from her unawareness
Jonah knows and confesses that you are kind, slow to anger, and repent of the evil you think to do to your people.
He knew that You are just kind…so You showed him the justice of your kindness…and if he only knew Your justice, you would have shown him the kindness of your justice.
The one you chose to be a servant and helper to work with you in Nineveh city (and You are the one who doesn’t want any helpers), became another city that needs your service
The good and honest shepherd is happy with the servant who exerts effort and works with him for the sake of the lost and doomed soul…and they both get happy by returning that soul to Jesus’ bosom.
How it hurts the shepherd when he sees the servant who works with him, has an ego that hinders him from winning souls.
One call out for the served one makes him run quickly to the heavenly bosoms and precedes his servant who is responsible for the service himself.
Our Holy Father, You are a teacher, You want the great Nineveh and you want Jonah, the servant city
You look for Nineveh by Jonah…We see you looking for Jonah, work in his mind, heart, and in his conscience.
You are a shepherd, you take care of Jonah who is close to you, and you take care of Nineveh which is away from you.
